Welcome to My Reading Corner: Where Books Open Windows and Reflect Our World
Hi there! I’m Kelly, a proud mom of four amazing kids and a passionate 3rd-5th grade elementary librarian at two wonderful schools in New Jersey. As someone who grew up with the library as my second home, I’m thrilled to share my lifelong love of reading with you—and hopefully inspire you and your family to dive into books that enrich, entertain, and open up new worlds.
My own journey as a reader began in Philadelphia, where I spent countless hours at the public library. I vividly remember getting lost in the pages of Charlotte’s Web and Where the Red Fern Grows—stories that not only shaped my love for animals and adventure, but also taught me lessons in friendship, loss, and growth. These books still hold a special place in my heart, and I carry their lessons with me every day, especially as a librarian guiding young readers on their own journeys.
My blog is a space where I share the joy of reading with everyone—whether you're a parent, teacher, or simply someone on the hunt for the next great book. As an elementary librarian, I'm on a mission to fill our shelves with stories that reflect the rich diversity of voices, cultures, and experiences that make up our world. Here, you'll find a mix of book recommendations that serve as both windows and mirrors—stories that help kids see the world through others’ eyes while also reflecting their own experiences back to them.
From picture books to chapter books, my goal is to offer young readers the chance to explore new perspectives, whether it's through heartwarming adventures, stories of resilience, or quirky tales that spark laughter. Each book is a doorway to a new world—one that inspires empathy, broadens horizons, and celebrates the beauty of diverse experiences. I believe in the power of books to empower, challenge, and spark meaningful conversations. Every child deserves to find a book that makes them feel seen, heard, and understood.
So, whether you're searching for something to read with your child and students, or you're a fellow book-lover looking to expand your bookshelf, I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you. Let’s embark on this reading adventure together!
Thanks for stopping by,
Kelly Radano
